The purpose of the case assignment in this course is to
place the student in a position that will require research,
synthesis of information and critical thought. You will
be asked to distinguish pertinent from peripheral facts,
to identify central alternatives among several issues
competing for attention, and to formulate strategies and
recommendations. The method provides an opportunity
to sharpen problem-solving skills and to improve your
ability to think and reason rigorously.
Note that your response will require research, synthesis
of information and critical thought.
For the Case assignment, you will take on the role of a senior manager
in a healthcare organization of your choice (do a web search to
identify a health care organization that you are familiar with). Prepare
a 3 page paper, in which you address the following:
1. Describe the role of a healthcare administrator in the setting that
you selected
2. Describe the types of processes that would need to be managed in
the organization you selected for exploration.
3. Discuss the role of communication in the organization you selected
and the role of the healthcare manager in coordinating organizational
activities
4. Describe at least 3 different jobs that would need to be filled in the
organization and describe how you would divide work processes.
Discuss the advantages of departmentalization.
Writing expectations:
You must cite all texts used, including page numbers and in
text citations to avoid Plagiarism.
You should use a minimum of 3-4 credible (scholarly) sources
in your Case Assignment
Must be double-spaced with 1-inch margins and typed in
12-point Times New Roman.
Essays should be proofread for spelling and grammar
mistakes.
Your essay must have a purpose statement in the introduction,
a main body, and a conclusion.
