This is the capstone assignment for the course. As the syllabus notes, the topic of this paper will be at the student’s discretion with the professor’s prior approval. You are therefore strongly encouraged to choose an aspect of American Politics that you would like to explore in greater depth. The general scope is a significant event in 21st century American politics. For students desiring a “default” topic, you are encouraged to examine an issue of interest from within the scope of one of the three recent “landmark” presidential elections (2008, 2016, or 2020).
This is not a “political essay” assignment. You are to analyze a major political event, such as one of the landmark elections, the passage of the Affordable Care Act, the passage of the Trump tax cuts, or the passage of the Biden Inflation Reduction Act through the lens of the American political system.
PLEASE WRITE: This paper is a cogent analytical paper on your chosen topic. And prepare a presentation (a video or narrated PowerPoint, not to exceed 5 minutes)
For the Premise and Bibliography Assignment:
A one-paragraph summary of the premise of the work, touching briefly on the kinds of evidence to be considered. It basically tells the reader at a glance where the work is going, and how the author is getting there.
A working bibliography lists, in proper citation format, the primary and secondary materials being consulted in the writing of the work.
