Write a persuasive essay on what you would do if you found yourself in simon’s situation (remember that this means that you, as you are right now, are a prisoner in a concentration camp), and defend your stance as the most morally appropriate option to take.

Sunflower Prompt
Read the book- The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal
no sources requires, only use the book
At the end of the Sunflower Simon Wiesenthal presents us with a unique proposition:
“You who have just read this
sad and tragic episode in my life, can mentally change places with me and ask yourself the crucial question “What would I have done?”
Write a persuasive essay on what you would do if you found yourself in Simon’s situation (remember that this
means that you, as you are right now, are a prisoner in a concentration camp), and defend your stance as the most morally appropriate option to take.
I would suggest
Briefly describing Simon’s interaction with Karl (about 1
paragraph).
Explain what the banality of evil is and describe some instances where we see it in The Sunflower (and how your position would deal with this philosophical concept)
Be sure to use specific examples from the text to
support your position
Utilize the thinkers to support your stance (be it the philosophers we covered throughout the course, the Responders in the second half of the novel, or even your own cultural/ religious/ ethical upbringing)
Remember to address counter arguments. Say a bit on their position, why proponents would be for it and why your stance is more appropriate.
