The Writing Project is a major assignment that you complete throughout the term. You will write a 5-page paper related to the textbook, Ten Discoveries that Rewrote History. This paper will require you to read the text, then determine which one of the discoveries you feel was the most significant to world history and which one you consider to be the least important to world history. Please explain the short-term and long-term impact on history of both the most important and least important of the discoveries that you choose. You will be required to justify your position to both of your responses as well as cite two sources for each. These sources must include citations in APA or MLA format. This Writing Project will be due prior to the end of the seventh week of the course.
The grading criteria for this Writing Project includes:
Accomplished = Response demonstrates excellent composition skills including a clear thesis, effective organization, convincing supporting materials, and excellent writing mechanics including spelling and punctuation.
Competent = Response contains composition skills including a clear thesis, although development, diction, and sentence style may suffer minor flaws. Shows careful and acceptable use of writing mechanics.
Developing = Response reflects flawed composition skills in either the clarity of the thesis, the development, or organization. Mechanics affects clarity.
