The paper must be related to environmental and social issues, as this course is Environment&Society
This paper must be Argumentative. That is, you must develop an argument in essay format and defend/support that argument throughout the paper using critical insight and factual statements. Merely descriptive papers that do not problematize an issue or present conflicting perspectives on it are inadequate. You will also benefit from bringing some of the concepts from class into your paper. A good example of this would be the identification and explanation of the fundamental beliefs that undergird the debates over a particular environmental issue and how these may or may not support a resolution. The paper must reference at minimum eight (8) peer-reviewed articles and/or university-press book chapters, excluding the course material (though you must still include references to course material if you mention it). I prefer parenthetic citations, and the APA or ASA referencing systems. Format TBA (e.g. .pdf versus .docx). I will provide more on this assignment in a later handout. Please see the example grading rubrics below.
