The final project will utilize the learnings from the previous classes for a Topic Briefing. The student will create a question related to the field of National Security Studies (Class #9) and answer that question using data processed through Tableau. The standard for a Topic Briefing is that the question is relevant to the field, the data answers your question(s), the student can express why the data aided in making an informed response to the question. The student can pick their own style/format for this project. If this was conducted in person, each student would have to present their project to the class
Using your submission from Class #9 (or possibly a different question), formulate an in-depth response to your research question; including a narrative. The narrative should include: Why the topic/question is relevant to this program?, Background/History on the topic, Why is it important to use data to find a solution/explain this issue or topic? The narrative must be at least 350 words. – This section is 25% of Topic Briefing grade
Use Tableau to create illustrations of data used to answer your question(s). Provide a minimum of demonstrations of Tableau proficiency in your briefing. – This section is 50% of your Topic Briefing grade. Make sure the data, charts, or graphs are relevant to research question(s) that you developed!
Explain the data and what it means to your questions (minimum of 300 words). What do the Tableau graphs, data, and/or graphs mean? Why the data is relevant based on the Cause/Effect and Correlation assignment; How do Tableau visuals support your question? What tends can be expected in the future? How did the data assist you in making an informed decision? – This section is 25% of your Topic Briefing grade.
