Using both an individual-level and an interpersonal-level theory/model as a framework, prepare a health behavior change intervention to prevent a health problem. The topic is called Diabetes among black women in South Carolina. The final grade will be based on grammar, feasibility, innovation, practicality, quality of literature review, and following directions. Students will present their proposals during the final weeks of the class.
Complete a full epidemiological summary of the health problem. Here, you will define/explain the scope of the health problem and provide a clear justification for why this problem must be addressed. Explain why the problem is important to address. You will use data to show that the problem needs to be addressed. (A good data source is the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website – www.cdc.gov.) Finally, provide a 1-2 sentence purpose statement.
