See the readings for job shadow in this lesson for ideas on questions to ask.

Here’s what I want you to do: Set up an appointment to shadow a professional in an occupation you are interested in. Also, write questions to ask this person when you are shadowing them. You will submit a reflection on your job shadow experience later in this course.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Read the articles in this Lesson on Job Shadowing.
2. Identify a person that you can job shadow. This person could work in one of the occupations you researched in this lesson or work in another occupation or career you are interested in exploring. If you are having trouble finding someone in an occupation you are interested in, email me via Inbox for help. You may not choose family members or friends or the person you interview for the Informational Interview. One of the purposes of this assignment is for you to meet new people to add to your network.
3. Develop a list of eight questions to ask during your job shadowing experience. See the readings for Job Shadow in this lesson for ideas on questions to ask.
4. To get credit for this assignment submit the name and title of the person you will job shadow, the type of work and organization the person works for, and the date of your appointment. Also, submit your list of 8 questions.
Assignment Update related to COVID-19: If you are not comfortable meeting a person face-to-face for this assignment, you may conduct this assignment via phone, FaceTime, or other options. Please let me know if I can help you with this process.
*Please choose to write on shadowing someone in HR, News Media, or Public Relations!!
