Research what life is like in that city and an industry that is prominent in that city, then find a job description for a management position that is common to the field…the job does not currently have to be available in the city you selected.

Getting a job in a different part of our country or the world can be a life-changing experience. For example, U.S. college graduates with business or technical backgrounds have historically been highly sought after by companies that operate in India. If you qualify (and if you’re willing to relocate), you could find yourself working in Bangalore or New Delhi for some multinational company like Intel, Citibank, or GlaxoSmithKline (a pharmaceutical company). In addition, learning how to live and work in a foreign country can build self-confidence and make you more attractive to future employers. To get a glimpse of what it would be like to live and work in another country, pick any city outside of the United States to work in. Research what life is like in that city and an industry that is prominent in that city, then find a job description for a management position that is common to the field…the job does not currently have to be available in the city you selected. For example, the tech industry is flourishing in the city you selected (Bangalore, India) so you found a job description for a managerial position in the technology field that was posted on indeed.com that you could presume would also be available in Bangalore. After you’ve pondered the possibility of living and working in the city and country you selected, answer the following questions:
A. What would your management job entail according to the description? Cite the source for the management position description using a web link for example http://indeed.com Links to an external site.).
B. What would living and working in the city you selected be like? Cite at least one website. What aspects would you enjoy? Which would you dislike?
C. What challenges would you face as an expatriate (a person who lives outside his or her native country)?
D. What opportunities would you have?
E. As a leader in your company, how would you recommend that your company reduce costs through contract manufacturing and outsourcing? Why? Cite the textbook in your response.
F. Share some examples that pertain to your company of importing and exporting. What would you recommend that your company import and export? Why?
G. How could the experience of working in your selected city and country help your future career?
H. Would you be willing to take a job in your selected city/country for a year or two? What about another country or part of our country? Why or why not?
