Thursday, February 24th, Russian forces, that had been building on
the Ukraine border, entered the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. Over
the past several months war has waged with little military interference from
outside nations and has caused one of the largest refugee crises in Europe. Why has this battle seen such little formal
military support? Are the economic actions taken enough?
Instructions:
You are to
write a multi-paragraph essay that examines the Russo-Ukrainian War in its most
recent developments in 2022. The main
purpose of this essay is to analyze the response of nations, besides Russia and
Ukraine, in regard to this conflict. Your
paper will seek to prove whether you believe the world has responded in a
correct and efficient manner.
Your thesis
should address the following points, while the rest of your paper will prove
your stance.
1.
Do
you believe the response of foreign nations have been their best option? Why? I
would suggest analyzing how a few nations have responded and evaluating whether
you think their responses were their best options and who those actions
benefited (ie. Benefit themselves vs. benefiting Ukraine).
2.
Have
economic sanctions been useful in deterring Russia? I would suggest you pick
2-3 examples of economic sanctions used and then evaluate what kind of effect
has been observed and if they have been effective in weakening Russia.
3.
Is
there profit being made off this conflict?
If so, who is getting this money?

deterring Russia, and, like all wars, profit is being made by a select few.
