TASK
Step 1: Find a cultural activity in which you wish to participate and have it approved by your instructor.
A cultural experience can be any of the following:
A visit to a museum (you will need to specificy which exhibit)
Art Exhibitions
Attendance at a play (movies will not be accepted)
A live concert
An international festival
If you have another idea, please ask. I love to approve new ideas.
You must get my approval prior to your event. Do NOT submit a project on an event that has not been approved or you will receive a 0 grade.

Please keep a ticket stub, program, or other evidence of your attendance in case you are asked to provide them to me as proof of your attendance. You may not base your project on someone else’s visit nor may you use a past visit for your project. You must personally attend during this semester.
Virtual attendance will NOT be accepted. Please contact the instructor if you have questions or concerns related to medical issues.
Step 2: Attend the event taking care to notice details that will help you complete the required essay.
Step 3: Complete your written report and submit by the deadline.
The essay will have three sections:
The Facts: Provide the who, what, when, where, and why. Give information in such a way that another person would be able to engage in the same aesthetic encounter as you did.
Interpretation and Evaluation: Explain what you see as the meaning of what you experienced. Comment on technique and style. Use this section to give the audience a sense of how and to what extent the encounter measured up to your own aesthetic criteria.
Participation: Using specific examples, tell why the encounter succeeded or failed to maintain your sustained, undivided attention. Give a clear picture of why the encounter ultimately did or did not have an impact upon you personally.
Essays should be 2-4 pages.

Reports must be typed, double spaced, with a title at the top of the first page.
Essays should be 2-4 pages in length.
Essays must be follow the conventions of standard, written English. While your grade will be based primarily on your content, major grammar errors will affect your grade.
No outside sources may be used for this essay. It must be you own, original work.
