In 5 -6 pages, doubled spaced, 12 inch Times New Roman or Calibri font respond to the following prompt.
(I attached the book, [you may refrence chapter 10] you may also use outsode sources)
Juan Gonzales claims at the beginning of Chapter 10 of Harvest of Empire “Juan Seguin Latino and the remaking of US Politics” in regards to the growing numbers of eligible Latino voters and elected officials to high offices in the United States, that:
“This political revolution will not be halted by the rise of anti-Hispanic sentiment among some white and black Americans, nor by the federal government spending billions of dollars for a wall along the Mexican border, nor by renewed efforts at mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. It will not be turned back by Supreme Court decisions that negated as “racial gerrymandering” a handful of congressional districts redrawn after the 1990 census. If anything, the anti-Hispanic backlash at the end of the twentieth century—most symbolized by the English-only and anti-immigration movements—has only heightened the clamor of Latinos for full political equality.”
What does this prediction or reading of U.S. Latinos participation in our democracy hold out for future possibilities both in the U.S. and abroad? In other words, consider how political trends in the U.S. affect policy decisions, the future of our democracy, politics and policy making abroad in other countries. You can respond to the prompt from a variety of different angles, taking a broad perspective which tackles or comments on 2 – 3 issues, such as immigration policy, education in higher ed (DACA) or k-12, racial violence, women’s rights and Latinas/x, Latinx in the work place, or you may choose to respond to the question from a single perspective.
To help respond to this question you might want to take into consideration demographic estimations of eligible voters in U.S. presently as well as recent trends toward racial violence, in other words, think your response through from as many different angles as you can.
