You will write a 4-5 page letter to someone serving overseas during World War II. You will describe to this person what is going on back home. To complete this assignment, you need to use 3 issues of a newspaper of your choice printed during WWII. The issues you use need to be from the same newspaper and either consecutive or within a few weeks of each other. Anything you find in the newspaper can be used in your letter this includes but not limited to articles and ads.
You can find newspapers at Helm-Cravens Library both on campus and online. The library has librarians and subject specialists available to point you in the right direction. If you want to use an online newspaper archive outside of the WKU system, check with me first.
This is meant to be a “fun” assignment. You can be creative with it. I will not only be judging what you write and how you write it but also your ability to find and assess newspaper research.
