Advertising is a form of persuasion that attempts to, what industry people like to say, “break through the clutter.” Americans see so many advertisements in the course of a day that we become immune to them. The goal of commercials, then, is to stand out…to make you take notice of a product. Watch the advertisement below and explain how Budweiser hopes to encourage its viewers to buy more Budweiser through airing it. What sort of rhetorical appeal is it? How does it work (or not work)?
