Double-spaced with page numbers

you will be producing analytical essays that will demonstrate your command of the key principles in readings and lectures. These are an analysis of how the readings and lectures conceptualize the theme of the module and what those readings mean collectively. Note: it is not a blow-by-blow account of each article you have to read and the lectures for which you are responsible. Instead, this is meant to be an integrative entry that demonstrates you understand the important elements of the theme through the lectures and readings assigned in the syllabus. You are expected to integrate readings and lecture material to provide an analysis of the topic in the module.
The best way to approach these is to think about what the readings and lectures say and the approaches that they take in understanding the theme of that module. You should be able to explain the ideas behind the readings and how they apply to the theme. If videos are assigned for that week, they should not form the basis for your journal entry. Try to remember: the purpose of the assignment is to demonstrate an understanding of the material for that week through your analysis. This is in lieu of midterm and final exams, so you want to show that you are thinking of this material in an integrative way.
An Outline Example
So, let’s take an example from the first module: Zizek and the Five doctrines. If I were to think about this in an integrative way, I would be thinking of the following:
The Module is about what human rights are, so this should be part of the opening discussion entry
The easiest point of comparison is within the five doctrines: the scope of what they cover (so you can make points about what they have in common and where they vary
But, if these are universal, what is Zizek’s problem with them? What does that mean for the theme of the module
One way to also approach future entries is to think of Donnelly as a starting point – he provides the theoretical content of the material often times. Then how do the articles and lectures fit into this and into the theme broadly?
Other Information
I would imagine that it would be difficult to demonstrate your knowledge of each module sufficiently in under four pages, but requiring no more than six double-spaced pages.
Some additional information for formatting:
Standard print type such as Times New Roman, with 12 point font.
Double-spaced with page numbers
Your name and module number assignment on the title page of the assignment
Use headings to help guide your reader through your analysis as needed
Be succinct and don’t belabor points
i will also be attaching reading that the analysis will be about as well as class notes
