Discussion Board: Post your MLA formatted paper of the readings to the Discussion Board tool and post a minimum of two responses to other student postings.
In an MLA formatted paper, identify the religious, ethnic, and historic context of each story and comment on how one character reacts to it. In other words, how does the individual conforms to or accepts or re-invent their relation to religion in an ethnic and historic context? Write one paragraph for each story. You must support and illustrate your ideas with specific details from the stories. Paraphrase and include short quotes. Include page numbers after quotes. 900–1200 words.
You will not be graded on whether or not you have chosen what I may think is the “correct” worldview of each story, but rather on how well you support your argument, how deeply you interpret the material and the originality of your response. Your paper should not sound like the others or use the same evidence from the texts. The art of the short story is to allow for many interpretations from close readings.
