Case scenario:
Many organizations are moving toward standardization of processes and centralization of
non-clinical operations which often times includes HIM department. Anytown Hospital
Corporation has gone through a rapid expansion with multiple mergers and acquisitions
across multiple regions, Recently, the corporate office began gathering data on key
processes and operations related to coding audits and productivity.
Using the raw data provided make recommendations in line with the strategic goals of
process standardization and centralization stated by Anytown Hospital Corporation
related to coding audits and productivity:
1. Standardization of processes
2. Centralization of non-clinical operations
Survey monkey was the tool used to gather the information. In the attachments provided,
there is the raw data to review and determine how you would summarize and report data
by region. Also provided are spreadsheets with the summary data.
Assignment:
There are two excel spreadsheets associated with this assignment. The detail for each
survey question is displayed on a separate tab within the spreadsheet. Review the data
for each question and create the following:
1. Create a graph of the Survey results from the Coding Audit Survey Summary for
Questions 1, 3, and 24. Display all three graphs on a single word document as a
Coding Audit Summary Page (to submit to the HIM Corporate Vice President at
Anytown Hospital Corporation). Within the word document make sure that the
survey question, responses and graphs are included. Provide brief narrative and
recommendations for possible standardization and/or centralization of the Coding
Audit process of the three graphs explaining each graph to the HIM Corporate
Vice President.
2. Create a graph of the Survey results from the Coding Productivity Survey
Summary for Questions 2, 4, and 6. Display all three graphs on a single word
document as a Coding Productivity Summary Page (to submit to the HIM
Corporate Vice President at Anytown Hospital Corporation). Within the word
document make sure that the survey question, responses and graphs are included.
Provide brief narrative and recommendations for possible standardization and/or
centralization of the Coding Productivity process of the three graphs explaining
each graph to the HIM Corporate Vice President.
