Assignment Overview:
Weekly written assignments are required of each student for weeks 1 through 5. Each written assignment should consist of 500-750 words (2-4 type-written pages); please note this varies by week, so attention should be paid to the specifics in Learning Activities. Written assignments are required to be in APA format. Egregious errors in spelling and grammar may result in a deduction of points. Additionally, written assignments should include the following for maximum credit:
1. Proper APA formatting;
2. Direct and explicit connections to the weekly prompt;
3. Reference/incorporation of specific theories, concepts, ideas, presentation(s), video(s) or other content from the course;
4. Some PERSONAL and SPIRITUAL connection to the material covered in class. This may include, but is not limited to: connections to scripture, biblical references, direct quotes from the bible or reference(s) of the students personal relationship with God and the connection(s) to the material covered in the course.
This Week’s Prompt:
The Mexican Migration: Why are masses of people fleeing Mexico (and other Latin American nations) for the US? Provide a rationale based on the Consolidated Democracy these migrants might be seeking. In a 2-4 page essay, include the following:
1. An overview and detailed description of Mexico’s Government/Structure(s);
2. Connections from the text/video presentations (HINT: This might mean comparing/contrasting Mexico (or other Latin nations) and the US);
3. A spiritual or personal connection to ANY OF THE TWO COUNTRIES; and
4.An explanation of the major differences and similarities (yes both this week) of the two countries.
Finally, as in previous weeks, properly framing your paper is key! Remember, organize, frame, plan, then write! You can always use the framing we used in previous weeks to get rolling! You got this!!!
