Assignment summary

I. Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is for you to apply the conceptual framing, critical thinking, and structural analysis skills you have learned in this course to a “real world” issue that is of concern to you. Your objective is to make use of the terms, concepts, approaches and insights grounded in Critical Race Theory to address a social inequality or racial disparity that you are most interested in addressing in your daily life. The goal is to equip and motivate you to become the catalysts for change that is much needed in American society.
II. Assignment Summary
Your assignment is to organize and create a 5 – 15 minute video, Prezi or PowerPoint presentation on your cell phone, I-Pad and/or Computer that critically address a social inequality or racial disparity you are interested in investigating. This social justice project should
 introduce the subject
 make a claim that addresses the inequality or disparity
 provide a summary of the issue
 conceptualize the problem from a CRT standpoint
 provide data to illuminate the problem
 provide possible structural interventions for resolving the issue.
Please note that your interventions and remedies do not have to be definitive or comprehensive. Be thoughtful, creative, innovative and experimental in your consideration. Structural novelty and critical consideration will achieve higher scores.
III. Logistics
Your video, Prezi or PowerPoint presentation should:
 may be done individually or in a team of up to 4 members
 must be approved by the instructor prior to submission
 should be 5 to 15 minutes in length
 must use data, graphs and/or charts to establish the circumstances of the inequality or disparity
 data should be gathered from credible sources
 recorded via Zoom, Prezi, video or another recording method
 ALL members of the group must participate in the development and creation of the project
 submitted via Blackboard
 is due on December 12, 2022, at 11:59pm
IV. Key Components of the Social Justice Project
The Social Justice Multimedia Project should contain (but is not limited to) the following:
 an introduction that contextualizes the issue under consideration
 a description of the social inequality or racial disparity
 data, charts and graphs that demonstrate the issue
 photos or video that portray the issue
 must employ at least 4 Critical Race Theory terms or concepts must be used to provide a detailed conceptualization and analysis the social inequality or racial disparity. Be sure to employ the terminology from the chapters, articles, and the PowerPoint provided in class to explain your insights on the issue. Imagine that you are trying to broaden the views of your grandmother who does not understand CRT, by helping her to see the issue in a more systematic and structural way.
