As the American population over the age of 65 continues to increase, so do the life stressors such as financial hardship, loss of loved ones, onset of chronic diseases, and potential drug therapy misuse. These factors and other contribute to how the aging patient might comply with treatments.
The short video talks about the aging population and the trends behind, aging in place.
How will society change as the US population ages?
After reading the chapter and watching the video share your experience and thoughts on the stressors of the aging population. You can share your opinion from first hand person experience with family members or yourself. You may have an experience from working in long-term care settings with the aging population. In this personal journal you will talk about your experience, your thoughts on those stressors (financial hardship, burden on family as caregivers, personal care and compliance in treatment). Also, talk about how your experience will help you in your educational journey and career as a Health Information Technologist and/or Medical Coder. Your journal should be approximately 1-page in length.
