Complete a rhetorical précis of the scholarly article that provides a clear, concise, and logical summary of the scholarly article, includes the essential ideas only.
Introductory sentence(s): include the author’s name, title of the article, publishing date, the author’s thesis.
Argument sentence(s): Explain the author’s essential argument and main points.
Purpose sentence(s): Explain the author’s purpose for the argument.
Author’s Conclusion sentence: Discuss the final conclusion of the author. Was the thesis proven or at the end of the article did the author change their mind?
Section 2 of Project (Statement of Agreement/Disagreement)
Statement of whether you agree or disagree with the author’s argument and conclusion.
Specific example from the class readings to support your agreement or disagreement.
Section 3 of Project (Conclusion)
The conclusion will provide
Overall wrap up of the scholar’s and student’s point of view.
Description of why the reading is still relevant today.
