The point of this assignment is to distinguish between the environmental public health concerns affecting an urban slum in India from the cultural features and elements (behaviors, values/beliefs, or traditions etc.) that are also observable within the same community and which are supporting the health and the well-being of the people(in spite of the public health concerns). In other words, you are to observe the same environment in two different ways, from a public health perspective and from a cultural health perspective. Keep in mind health includes physical health, mental health, and risk of injury. (Note: Part II of this series is available in the Explore More folder)
The assignment:
Start and watch the video (approx. 40 min)
Create 2 lists of your observations. Label each list: One list of environmental public health concerns and another list of your cultural observations (features, elements, behaviors and values/beliefs, traditions) supporting health and wellness of the people).
Add four entries to each list and each entry needs to be time stamped according to its location in the video. Describe your observations using complete descriptive sentences. Each entry 1-3 rich descriptive sentences.
