George Floyd was brutally murdered by police for a comparatively small offense of allegedly passing a counterfeit $20 bill at a store. The Washington Post has a good write up and video of the events. This is yet another instance of police brutality against an African-American. People around the world have risen up against this grievous wrong in the form of protests around the world. However, these protests have also led to violence, looting, burning, and defacing of stores, and more people being hurt or killed.
How do we protect and ensure Civil Liberties and Civil Rights (ensure there are no more cases of police brutality against African-Americans) and still protect the rights of store owners and other innocent people in the face of the demonstrations and protests?
