Use the following headings for your slides. Limit your presentation to 2-3 slides for each of the content
sections listed below. Each slide should focus on highlighting the most important information in an
outline format. Avoid including too much text on the slides. Additional details that support your outline
can then be explained during your presentations.
Introduction/Outline – a topic outline showing the headings listed below. Use this slide to
briefly introduce your disease.
1. Anatomy (with diagrams)
Include diagrams of which organ system, organs, and tissues are most affected by this disease.
Make sure to describe them thoroughly as part of your presentation. Provide citations for all
pictures not created by yourself.
2. Physiology
Describe the normal physiology of the anatomy previously mentioned. Special emphasis should
be given to the biochemical pathways involved, such as hormonal feedback loops,
neurotransmitter communication, enzymes, proteins, genetic factors, etc. Your textbook is a
great resource and shows the level of detail required.
3. Pathophysiology
Describe what went wrong with the physiology above to result in the disease. Describe the
physiological causes of the specific symptoms, do not just list symptoms. Explain any disruption
to regular homeostasis of these systems.

How is your disease diagnosed? Describe the medical care available to fight the disease (drugs,
surgery, behavioral modifications). Will the person be cured or is it a reoccurring or chronic
condition? Emphasize the physiological changes produced by any drugs and whether they act
like agonists/antagonists to specific normal biochemicals of the body. Explain why side effects
may occur, do not just list them. What AI models are available to help diagnose and/or help with
creating a treatment plan?
5. Demographics
Who is most likely to develop this disease? Find statistics on the incidence and prevalence of
this disease in the USA versus other countries. What is the survival rate or mortality rate of the
disease? For any statistic, you must provide an internal citation (parenthetical citation). Avoid
including footnotes, endnotes, etc.
