Some people call the example essay and “exemplification” essay; both terms mean the same. The writer must provide examples of his or her topic.
Using the five paragraph format, construct a well-written essay that exemplifies examples of a specific topic and then a focused perspective of that topic. You must use one of the topics listed below; again, you must use one of these topics.
A Few Specifics to Remember:
Please write your own (original) essays; Canvas will identify plagiarized essays, and the instructor reserves the right to assign a “0” to all work Canvas highlights as plagiarized.
*Follow Instructions
*Remember that the topic is a broad concept, but the essay must revolve around the thesis statement, a specific “slice” or a statement that asserts specific examples of that broad topic.
*Write a good introduction
*Provide a clear thesis (last sentence in the introduction)
*Provide a clear topic sentence per paragraph (first sentence in each paragraph). That topic sentence should reflect one aspect of the thesis
*Honor all rules of “what not to write”
*This is not a narrative essay, so do NOT use first person (I, me, my, use, we, ourselves, myself, etc.)
*Do not use second person (you).
*Honor grammar and composition rules.
*Give one focused example per paragraph and that example should reflect that paragraph’s topic sentence.
*The essay must be at least two (2) full page; please do not write “fluff,” just to achieve two pages. It will show in the writing.
