This activity is a fun way to see the results of meiosis and to introduce the principles of inheritance. Choose a friend (or anyone capable of flipping a coin) to help you with this one. Print the attached baby building activity (also posted on the Canvas home page module) and step through the instructions.
Post > 100 words:
(50 pts) After completing the activity, list at least 10 physical traits from the activity that your baby inherited.
(20 pts) Of YOUR baby’s traits, label one that exhibited polygenic inheritance and one that exhibited incomplete dominance.
(30 pts) Draw and color a picture (don’t worry … you won’t be graded on your artistic ability) of your ….uh …cough …. beautiful baby showing its inherited traits. Copy it into (or attach it) to your post.
Every student started with the EXACT SAME GENES in this activity just as you and your siblings come from the same gene pool. Compare your baby to those in your group. Any duplicates? Why or why not? Hint: MEIOSIS
