Topic: Your paper should include a discussion of your thoughts about and your reactions to the
documentary. Refer to information in the textbook and PowerPoints to indicate how the
documentary matched or did not match this information. The following are questions to consider
when writing your reaction paper:
 What are your thoughts about the documentary? What were your reactions to the
documentary?
 Did you learn something new from watching the documentary?
 Did information in the documentary support or contradict what you learned in class?
How so? (This is the question I would like for you to focus on the most.)
This assignment is NOT meant to be a summary of the documentary. I want you to critically
reflect on the documentary and the materials we have covered in class.
Guidelines: This is a formal writing assignment. The paper needs to be typed, double-spaced,
have 1” margins, use 12 point Times New Roman font, and follow APA guidelines. The length
requirement for this assignment is 2-3 full pages. Your grade will be based on grammar/spelling,
the organization of your ideas, and the content of your paper. A useful reference for APA
guidelines is http://owl.english.purdue.edu. When using any outside sources (which is not a
requirement), be sure to properly cite your information using the APA format. Additionally, be
sure to properly cite and reference the textbook. Other guidelines:
 Do not put extra spaces between paragraphs.
 Be sure to write complete sentences.
 Do not write a list of bullet-points.
 Do not use abbreviations such as “isn’t” and “don’t” – spell them out (i.e., “is not” and
“do not”).
 Do not ask rhetorical questions.
 Do not use slang.
 Make sure that your grammar and spelling are correct by re-reading your paper before
submitting it. Do not rely on the computer spell-check because it will not always pick up
on errors and mistakes.
