Developmental Case Analysis Assignment:
You will provide a structured analysis of a character in a movie representing the developmental stage of the character you selected from the film. You may select from three movie selections: Precious, When They See Us, or Instant Family. You will select a character from the film and assess their developmental stage in the film. You will also discuss their development if they reach other developmental stages in the film. In your paper, you will assess indicators of the character’s developmental stage.
Write a 2-3 page paper discussing your character at length. In the introductory paragraph, describe the characteristics of the “client.” In the body of your paper, I’d like for you to discuss the developmental stage of your client and identify the characteristics that lead you to believe this is their developmental stage. Also, indicate interventions that would be developmentally appropriate for the client. For example, an infant that isn’t crawling or walking after age 1 may need further assessment by Babies Can’t Wait or another agency that examines a child’s development. You should discuss this resource(s) your client will need based upon your assessment of their presenting issues and developmental needs.
The aims of this paper is to (a) gain mastery of key points from the respective chapter, (b) apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment from the text to the case example, (c) indicate the ability to find and integrate outside resources to inform understanding of broader issues facing clients at a particular developmental life stage, and (d) integrate these various sources of knowledge in identifying directions for social work practice.
