For your final essay you will be asked to write a “compare and contrast” paper (3-5 pages). Make sure you support
your thesis with evidence from the texts. If you use sources, make sure you cite them
accurately. I would like for the essay to focus on the differences and similarities in they way both stories, which I uploaded down here, deal with the subversion of gender roles and masculinity.
There’s no requirement to use authoritative sources, as long as the concepts are clear and backed my passages from the text it should be fine. There should be 5 paragraphs: Introduction, The Theme of Gender Roles, Gender Roles and Masculinity in Bloodchild, Gender Roles and Masculinity in When It Changed, and a Conclusion.
I also uploaded a word file with some notes on When It Changed that we discussed in class.
