1. Name at least 3 factors you think we can reasonably expect to affect student performance in NJ public schools. For each factor, explain why and how you think the factor affects student performance. For instance, if you think the median teacher salary affects student performance in NJ’s public schools, then you might explain that higher salaries prevent teachers from having to work multiple jobs so that they can focus on teaching; as a result, you expect that higher median teacher salaries are associated with higher levels of student performance.
2. Find, retrieve, and skim 3 academic articles focused on the effect of expenditure per pupil on student performance. Please carefully read the introduction to this problem set to learn how to find academic articles. For each article, cite it in APA format, list any factors mentioned as affecting student performance, and describe the hypothesized impact of the factor on student performance (e.g., median teacher salary is hypothesized to be related to higher levels of student performance).
