Module 4 discusses the secularization of the Middle East. That means, of course, that they are looking to external models in order to reorganize (and “modernize”) society. Reformation of Islam was predominant as well as adoption of European philosophies (Chapter 8), Traditionalists stood apart from Secularists (Chapter 9) and movements towards Constitutionalism (chapter 10) all sought the same thing: How can we become “modern” and what does that mean? So for this project, do the following:
Using chapters 11 & 12, discuss the creation of the Modern States of the Middle East.
