The two sources of technology programming that I have utilized are Facebook and Instagram. Particularly the information that has flooded social media regarding the recent school shooting in Uvlade Texas at Robb Elementary School.
The first programming I had viewed was a brief news update on Facebook. This source had described the recent event and the devastation the community has felt due to this horrific event. This source had given me the perception that mental illness is the cause for this tragic event and criminals are viewed differently when experiencing mental health diagnoses or concerns. For example, this video stated those with mental illness are unable to control their actions as well as others.
A second programming I have viewed was a series of slides on Instagram. This post had stated the vast amount of school shootings that have happened in the recent years compared to other countries. This post then described the current gun laws and issues that come along with individual’s being able to purchase weapons easily. This post had the perception that gun laws are the current issue in the US and criminals need limited access to these items compared to the current gun laws.
Deviance is considered a behavior that goes against or violates the established social norms (Lundahl and Hull 2014). While these behaviors can be as simple as smoking in an unsanctioned area to behaviors as violent as a school shooting, they are all considered deviance as they violate the interactions that are considered “normal” in our society. The school shooting that had happened in Uvlade Texas is a highly deviant behavior that society has created many negative views towards the offender who committed the act. The programs on Facebook and Instagram that had described the behavior considered the offender to be a mental ill criminal and a deviant for purchasing a weapon that he should not have had access to.

In my opinion block grants can be compared to the electoral college system. They are based on data and not the actual need of the individualized community or target. There are federal Government is rallying for Medicaid block grants but it has been said that a block grant of Medicaid weakens health care infrastructure intended use (Kelly, 2019). Categorical Grants are not perfect but there more zeroed in on the issue. They are meant for programs that are more focused and comprehensive (Chambers and Bonk, 2014). Block grants look at the entire issue for everyone but not focused on a community or particular place. For the sensitive criteria that healthcare is positioned in I believe the categorical grant would better meet the need based on the fact that every neighborhood needs different income and services. One of the best Categorical grants is the Head-start Grant.
