How do you think executive orders affect the system of checks and balances?

1) Do you think that Executive Orders are a good power for an American President to have? Why why not? Describe and discuss your reaction to the practice of Executive Orders. Were you aware of the power and reach of Executive Orders?
2) The U.S. Constitution does not address executive orders or define them as part of presidential authority, but the authority has been established “as a matter of law and practice.” Since George Washington, Presidents have issued over 13,000 executive orders. How do you think executive orders affect the system of checks and balances?
3) What do you think are the advantages of presidents being able to sign sweeping executive orders? What do you think are the risks or drawbacks? How would you amend the process, if at all?
