Discussion – Is Texting Killing the English Language?

Texting has long been bemoaned as the downfall of the written word, with the belief being that language skills themselves and literacy are deteriorating as a result of this practice. What are your opinions about texting, and how have they changed as a result of the course materials this week? The same issues can be raised about generational forms of speaking and the ways that both grammar and vocabulary shift from generation to generation. Based on what you have learned thus far in the course, should people be concerned about these generational shifts in language use? Why or why not?
