Write a 2 – 3 page proposal for a children’s novel. You are writing for children about 9 – 12 years old.
Page One:
1. Basic Summary: What is your book about? (one paragraph)
2. Target Audience: Who will read your book? What kind of child will be interested in your story? (For example, a fantasy book will have a very different audience from a biography) (one paragraph)
3. Specifications: How long will your book be? (How many words? How many chapters?) Will you include illustrations? How many?) (a couple of sentences)
4. Author Bio: Why are you the right person to write this novel? (one paragraph)
Page Two – Three: Outline (one page)
1. Provide a title for each chapter
2. Write a short one paragraph description of what happens in each chapter
You are NOT writing a novel for this class. Don’t worry. But who knows? Maybe you will write this book someday!
