Write a paragraph or two explores and examines the factors that affect the way you write and use language in school, at work, with your family, and with your friends. What affects your communication style and rhetorical choices?
Write a paragraph or two that considers the differences between writing an email to your best friend and an email to a professor. How are these rhetorical situations different? How might you adjust your word choices, punctuation, and grammar to reflect the different levels of formality between these two rhetorical situations?
Finally, write another paragraph or two about your writing on social media, in DMs, and text messages. What factors influence the rhetorical choices you make? How is this type of writing different than the writing required in work, school, or other formal professional settings?
